Curriculum


Salvatore Alfonzetti was born in Catania, Italy, in 1952. He received his degree cum laude in Electrical Engineering from the University of Catania in 1976. Since 1977 he has been working at the same university, more specifically as contract professor of “Network Theory” (1980-83), university researcher in “Electrotechnics” (1983-87), associate professor of “Signal Theory” (1987-1994) and of “Electrotechnics” (1994-2000) and presently as full professor of “Electrotechnics”. From 1992 to 1998 he was the director of the Computing Centre of the Engineering Faculty. From 1997 to 2003 he was the vice-director of the Electrical, Electronic and Systems Enginering Department (DIEES); from 2005 to 2008 he was the director of the same department. Since 1994 he has been the scientific co-ordinator of the Electrotechnics Research Unit at the University of Catania. From 1999 to 2001 he was the counselor of the IEEE Student Branch of the University of Catania. His main research work is currently concerned with the finite element analysis of electromagnetic systems. He is the author of more than two hundred scientific papers. Mr. Alfonzetti is a member of the editorial boards of some international conferences (Compumag, CEFC, Electrosoft), a member of IEEE, AEIT and a founder member of ICS (International Compumag Society).
